FCT FA launches six new committees to revolutionize football development and enhance the region's sports landscape

(EPICSTORIAN) – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Football Association (FCT FA) has announced the establishment of six standing committees aimed at transforming football development in Nigeria’s capital.

Chairman Mouktar Mohammed revealed this initiative in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, as reported by NAN.

Mohammed emphasized the critical role these committees will play in managing and sustaining the growth of football within the FCT.

He stated, “As we inaugurate these standing committees, we reaffirm our dedication to making football in the FCT a model for other regions.”

Each committee has been meticulously composed to include individuals with the expertise, passion, and commitment necessary to drive football development to greater heights. The FCT FA anticipates that the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders will be instrumental in achieving their goals.

In recent developments, Nigerian football has seen significant achievements and challenges. Ademola Lookman, a Nigerian forward, was named African Footballer of the Year by the Confederation of African Football.

Lookman had a standout year, contributing to Atalanta’s victory in the Europa League final with a hat-trick and aiding Nigeria to reach the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final where he scored three goals. He expressed pride in the recognition and encouraged perseverance in pursuing dreams despite setbacks.

However, the Nigerian National League (NNL) has faced challenges, including inconsistent match results and logistical issues affecting teams’ performances.

The league’s average number of goals per game stands at 2.08, indicating a need for improvement in offensive strategies. The NNL typically runs from November to May, with teams competing for promotion to the Nigerian Premier League.

The establishment of these committees by the FCT FA is a strategic move to address these challenges and enhance the overall quality of football in the region.

By focusing on technical development, competitions, finance, media relations, ethics, and women’s involvement, the FCT FA aims to create a more robust and sustainable football environment.
