Police arrested a second suspect in connection with arson attacks linked to Keir Starmer’s former homes.
London, EPICSTORIAN – A second man has been arrested in connection with a string of arson attacks targeting properties linked to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Counter Terrorism officers detained the 26-year-old suspect at London Luton Airport at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.
The suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life. The operation was conducted by the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit as part of an ongoing counter-terror investigation.
According to police, the arrest is related to three separate arson attacks: a vehicle fire in the NW5 area on 8 May, a blaze at the entrance of a property in N7 on 11 May, and another fire at a residential address in NW5 during the early hours of 12 May.
Police Link Targets to High-Profile Figure
All three incidents reportedly involved properties with connections to the Prime Minister.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command is leading the probe due to the victims’ ties to a “high-profile public figure.” Investigators have not officially named Sir Keir Starmer but noted the link to properties once owned or still connected to him.
One of the properties involved is a four-bedroom house in Kentish Town, currently let by Starmer to his sister-in-law. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze quickly, but not before it caused visible damage to the front entrance.
First Suspect Already Charged Over Arson Attacks
This latest arrest follows the detainment of 21-year-old Roman Lavrynovych of Sydenham, who was taken into custody on Thursday and has since been charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life. Lavrynovych appeared in court on Friday.
The case intensified public concern after a Toyota RAV4 parked on the Prime Minister’s street was destroyed by fire on VE Day. Although the car belonged to a neighbor and was initially suspected to have a battery fault, investigators now believe it may be linked to the broader pattern of coordinated arson attacks.
Political Response and Security Measures
London Mayor Sadiq Khan voiced concern about the safety of the Prime Minister’s family. Speaking on LBC Radio, Khan said, “Don’t underestimate the ripples of fear that Vic [Starmer’s wife] and the kids felt when they read this in the news.”
The close timing and similar nature of the attacks have prompted heightened security for the Prime Minister’s family and property. Authorities have not ruled out further arrests and continue to examine possible political or ideological motives behind the attacks.
