British tourist allegedly bit off Turkish cabbie’s nose, leaving him unconscious on a busy Istanbul road.

EPICSTORIAN — A Turkish taxi driver remains in a coma after a brutal roadside assault allegedly carried out by a British tourist in Istanbul.

The shocking incident, recorded on the vehicle’s dashcam, shows the suspect violently grappling with 56-year-old Kadir Bicer while the taxi was still in motion.

The confrontation reportedly began over a fare dispute following a late-night pickup from Istanbul Airport on April 25. Witnesses claim the British man, appearing intoxicated, had caused disturbances at the airport before Bicer agreed to drive him into the city via the Eyupsultan district.

As captured in the disturbing footage, the man launched a frenzied attack from the back seat, wrapping one arm around the driver’s throat and attempting to force his face toward his mouth, allegedly trying to bite him. Bicer struggled to maintain control of the moving vehicle as the assault escalated.

Despite resisting, Bicer eventually exited the cab in a desperate attempt to escape. The attacker followed, and the fight spilled onto a busy highway. Vehicles continued to pass as the two men clashed on the tarmac. Bicer was eventually found unconscious at the roadside by a fellow taxi driver.

Medical teams rushed the severely injured driver to a hospital, where he was admitted to intensive care. Gruesome medical photographs revealed severe facial trauma, including swollen eyes, facial fractures, and injuries to his hand from the struggle.

“My brother’s face is completely shattered,” said Huseyin Bicer. “We are praying every moment. We fear justice may not be served because the attacker is foreign.”

Police quickly located the British man and detained him. Footage later showed him being led away by authorities, hands restrained, with blood visible on the yellow taxi’s doors. He was brought before a Turkish court and officially remanded in custody pending trial.

The Bicer family has expressed concern that the man may attempt to flee Turkey before answering for the alleged crime. “We’re worried he might be released and escape the country,” said Huseyin. “This must not happen.”

The fracas began when the fare disagreement turned hostile, but the level of violence stunned viewers. “No one could believe the aggression shown,” one eyewitness at the airport commented. “He seemed angry from the start.”

Police Investigation Underway as Doctors Fight to Save Driver’s Life

Authorities in Istanbul have launched an official investigation into the incident, seeking further eyewitness testimony and forensic evidence from the scene. Meanwhile, doctors continue to monitor Kadir Bicer’s condition, which remains critical.

The footage—now widely shared across Turkish media—has triggered outrage among viewers, with many demanding that justice be pursued regardless of the attacker’s nationality.

The British Embassy in Turkey has yet to comment on the case. Legal experts suggest the suspect could face serious charges under Turkish criminal law, which carries harsh penalties for violent crimes against service workers.

As the investigation continues, the Bicer family remains at his bedside, hoping he wakes from his coma and recovers from the traumatic injuries. “He did nothing to deserve this,” said Huseyin. “He was simply doing his job.”
