BEIJING, (EPICSTORIAN ) — Chinese President Xi Jinping has reaffirmed his country’s unwavering commitment to overcoming economic and geopolitical pressures, vowing to navigate external threats and risks with confidence and resolve.
Speaking at a high-level Spring Festival reception, Xi emphasized China’s remarkable progress despite global challenges, while pledging further reforms and economic resilience in the face of external pressures.
“We will undoubtedly break new ground in reform and development as long as we strengthen our conviction and confidence, confront problems and obstacles directly, and tackle risks and challenges without hesitation,” Xi declared.
Xi’s to Tackle Risks of U.S. Tariffs
His remarks underscore China’s determination to maintain stability amid increasing international sanctions, threatening U.S. tariffs, trade disputes, and regional security tensions.
China’s Economic and Technological Resilience
Reflecting on the past year, Xi highlighted China’s economic recovery, industrial growth, and technological advancements, stressing that the country had successfully implemented both existing and incremental policies to bolster its economic momentum.
Faced by mounting restrictions on key industries such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence, according to the president, China continues to advance its industrial innovation, proving its capability to withstand foreign-imposed limitations.
Xi asserted that these strides reinforce China’s global economic standing and its role as a key driver of international growth.
The government’s focus on self-sufficiency in strategic industries aligns with its long-term objective of reducing reliance on foreign technology. This push comes amid continued U.S.-led sanctions targeting China’s high-tech and defense sectors, which Beijing has condemned as attempts to contain its rise.
“Our historical course to build a strong country and rejuvenate the nation will not be blocked,” Xi affirmed, signaling a strong defiance against external economic coercion.
Geopolitical Tensions: Xi Signals Preparedness for Military and Diplomatic Challenges
Beyond economic matters, Xi’s speech also made a touch on China’s military and strategic resilience. With tensions simmering over Taiwan, the South China Sea, and regional security alliances, Beijing has consistently asserted its sovereignty and national security priorities.
He noted that in response to growing military engagements by the United States and its allies in the Indo-Pacific, China has accelerated its defense modernization efforts and reinforced its strategic partnerships with allied nations.
President Xi hinted his country’s readiness to counter external military pressures, suggesting that Beijing will maintain its assertive stance on territorial issues.
“No difficulty or obstacle will hold back the Chinese people in their pursuit of a better life,” he stated.
This assertion underscores China’s broader strategy of fortifying national security while expanding its diplomatic influence, particularly through initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and economic alliances with emerging markets.
China’s Roadmap for 2025: Reform, Stability, and Global Influence
Looking ahead, Xi outlined China’s priorities for 2025 and beyond, emphasizing deepened reforms, economic resilience, and strategic risk management. He highlighted plans to strengthen key sectors, safeguard national interests, and push forward with the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).
According to the president, China’s strategy will focus on:
•Expanding high-standard opening-up policies to boost economic engagement
•Mitigating financial and geopolitical risks through structural reforms
•Enhancing domestic self-reliance in key industries such as technology, energy, and defense
•Ensuring social equity by distributing modernization benefits across all social classes
Celebrating the Year of the Snake, Xi called on the Chinese people to remain steadfast in their confidence, emphasizing that resilience and wisdom will guide the nation through the evolving global landscape.
“The snake symbolizes wisdom and vitality in Chinese culture. I hope all Chinese people will stay confident, hopeful, and forge ahead with an enterprising spirit,” he said.
