The attack also temporarily shut down three major airports near the capital, with dozens of flights diverted. Russia’s defense ministry reported intercepting 144 drones.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called the strike proof of Ukraine’s threat, underscoring the ongoing conflict.

Andrei Vorobyov, the governor of Moscow’s region, confirmed that several buildings were damaged in the attacks, with at least one person losing their life.

“A woman died, and three others were injured. Five nearby residential buildings were evacuated as emergency services dealt with drone debris,” Vorobyov stated.

If verified, this would mark one of Ukraine’s most extensive drone operations on Russian territory during the ongoing war, now spanning over two and a half years.

In Ramenskoye, about 31 miles (50km) southeast of Moscow, drones struck high-rise buildings, igniting fires.

The assault also temporarily closed three airports near the capital—Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky—with 48 flights being rerouted, according to Russia’s civil aviation authority, Rosaviatsia.

In Moscow, drone debris landed on a house on the city’s outskirts, though no injuries were reported, according to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. He noted that over a dozen drones heading for Moscow were intercepted before reaching the city.

Russia’s defense ministry reported intercepting and destroying 144 Ukrainian drones across nine regions, with about half of those downed over the Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine. No casualties or damage were reported in Bryansk.
