Washington, EPICSTORIAN — President Donald Trump has revoked Secret Service protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden, stating that the cost of their security details has become an unnecessary burden on U.S. taxpayers.
“Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States taxpayer. There are as many as 18 people on this detail, which is ridiculous!” Trump announced on Monday.
He also confirmed that Ashley Biden, who was assigned 13 agents, would no longer receive security coverage.
The U.S. Secret Service acknowledged the directive, with spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi stating, “We are aware of the President’s decision to terminate protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden.
“The Secret Service will comply and is actively working with the protective details and the White House to ensure compliance as soon as possible.”
Presidential Authority Over Security Coverage
Secret Service protection is typically provided to sitting presidents, their spouses, and children. Former presidents and their spouses receive lifelong security, while their children lose eligibility upon the president’s departure unless extended by executive order.
Before leaving office, President Joe Biden extended Secret Service protection for his adult children through July 2025. This practice is not uncommon. Presidents have the discretion to approve additional security for their families before leaving office.
Trump followed a similar approach at the end of his first term, granting his four adult children—Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump, and Tiffany Trump—an extra six months of protection. Two of their spouses were also covered.
Financial and Political Considerations Mandates Hunter and Ashley Biden Security Cut
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics, a government watchdog group, has previously reported on the financial impact of extended security details for former presidential families.
Secret Service records showed that travel and accommodations for Trump’s children cost taxpayers over $140,000 in the first month after he left office.

The agency has not confirmed when their details will officially be withdrawn, while coordination is underway to implement the directive.
