the President’s departure, for the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, was marked by a ceremonial send-off at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja — where he was seen off by Vice President Kashim Shettima, top government officials, including several ministers.

“President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja for Beijing, China, on Thursday, August 29, on an official visit to China,” the State House reported.

“President Tinubu will have a brief layover in the United Arab Emirates.

“In China, the President will meet with President Xi Jinping and will hold meetings with Chinese business leaders on the sidelines of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

“President Tinubu will be accompanied by senior government officials on the trip.”

Additionally, the visit aims to explore new opportunities for Chinese investments in Nigeria’s key sectors, such as energy, transportation, and manufacturing.

Equally, some independent observers suggest that strengthening existing ties with China could largely benefit Nigeria, given China’s significant role in African trade and investment.
