Teenager jailed for fatal attack on bus driver after being denied boarding at Elgin bus station.
A 16-year-old boy has been sentenced to four years for killing bus driver Keith Rollinson in a violent attack at Elgin bus station.
The incident occurred, according to a Scottish media, after the teenager, who was drunk, had been denied boarding due to his state. The Elgin bus driver, Mr. Rollinson, was being filmed by the youth, who reacted violently when the driver confiscated and destroyed his phone. The teenager then launched a “frenzied attack,” delivering repeated blows.
Elgin Bus Driver Suffered Heart Attack
The High Court in Inverness heard that the assault caused Mr. Rollinson, a former RAF serviceman, to suffer a fatal heart attack. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Lady Hood, the presiding judge, initially imposed a six-year and six-month sentence but reduced it due to the youth’s early guilty plea and age. The teen, already with a prior assault on a bus driver, admitted culpable homicide.

Addressing the court, Lady Hood described the harm caused as “of the highest order,” noting that Mr. Rollinson’s family was devastated. She acknowledged the driver’s pre-existing heart condition but emphasized the role of the attack in his death.
Despite the sentence reduction, Mr. Rollinson’s family expressed dissatisfaction, leaving the court visibly upset.
