Tony Okocha vows to lead Rivers APC to victory, promising unity and transformation by 2027.

EPICSTORIAN – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has elected Chief Tony Okocha as its new chairman.

Okocha, who currently serves as the caretaker committee chairman, was elected unopposed during the state delegate congress held in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

The election, conducted by voice vote, was overseen by Dr. Adoye Omalez, representing APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.

In his acceptance speech, Okocha expressed his gratitude for the support of party members, emphasizing their voluntary participation. “If you know me well, I’m an emotional person,” he stated.

“Our joy is that our members came on their own volition—nobody was cajoled or bamboozled.” He praised the unity within the party, noting, “This proves those who doubted our ability to conduct peaceful elections wrong.”

Okocha set ambitious goals for the party, promising to unseat the current state government in the 2027 elections. “Our target is clear: by 2027, the APC will govern Rivers State,” he declared.

He credited President Bola Tinubu for achievements such as resuming operations at the Port Harcourt Refinery, calling it “just the beginning” of greater national progress.

Chief Victor Giadom, APC National Vice Chairman (South-South), lauded the peaceful conduct of the congress, describing it as a testament to the party’s unity. He urged members to support the new leadership, stressing that a united front would be key to future victories for APC.

Okocha concluded with a rallying call: “From local governments to the National Assembly and governorship, APC will win in Rivers State. Together, we’ll build a stronger future.”
