Putin sacks Shoigu as Russia’s defense minister, appoints Andrei Belousov

President of Russia , Vladimir Putin, on Sunday dismissed Sergei Shoigu from his position as Russia’s defense minister.

This, as pertains to the Russian law, included the resignation of the entire Russian Cabinet on Tuesday after the inauguration of president Putin in Kremlin.

Putin now serves his fifth term in office as the president of Russia.

The now former Russia’s defense minister, Shoigu at first was unaware of his next move before as just a few members had been expected to keep their jobs.

However, according to Kremlin , President Putin signed a decree on Sunday appointing Shoigu as secretary of Russia’s Security Council.

The nnouncement of Shoigu’s appointment as secretary of Russia’s Security Council followed briefly after Putin had proposed Andrei Belousov to become the country’s defense minister replacing him.

The announcement of Shoigu’s new role came as 13 people were reported dead and 20 more wounded in Russia’s border city of Belgorod, where a 10-story apartment building partially collapsed after what Russian officials said was Ukrainian shelling, Apnews said.

But Ukraine hasn’t issued any comments on the incident.

Russia’s Federation Council, upper house in parliament is yet to approve the appointment of Belousov.

It reported Sunday that Putin introduced proposals for other Cabinet positions as well but Shoigu is the only minister on that list who is being replaced, a source reported.
