Prisha Mosley speaks about the health consequences of her transition and her legal battle with medical professionals.

Prisha Mosley, a detransitioner, sues doctors over irreversible harm caused by gender-affirming care, now advocating for others.

EPICSTORIAN – Prisha Mosley, a 26-year-old mother, has had her life irrevocably changed by a decision made when she was a troubled teen.

Now, she’s fighting back. After undergoing gender transition procedures at 18, Mosley is suing the healthcare professionals who guided her through a decision she believes was rushed and reckless.

“I thought I’d never want children or change my mind,” Mosley explains. “But I grew up and realized I’d made a terrible mistake.”

Prisha’s story echoes that of Keira Bell, a former patient of the UK’s Tavistock Institute, who also regretted gender transition at a young age and took legal action against the institution.

Like Bell, Mosley is now using her platform to speak out against the rapid medicalization of young people seeking gender-affirming care.

Prisha Mosley Says She was emotionally vulnerable

Growing up in North Carolina, Mosley was an emotionally vulnerable teenager dealing with anorexia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts.

At 14, she was sexually assaulted, became pregnant, and suffered a miscarriage. It was around this time that she began questioning her gender identity.

At 15, Mosley believed transitioning to male would solve her problems. “I thought I was ugly and fat and not like the ‘girly girls’ on TV,” she recalls. “I thought boys had it easier and were stronger.”

At 16, Mosley started online discussions with trans activists who, she says, convinced her that her struggles were the result of being born in the wrong body. After expressing dissatisfaction with her female identity, she was quickly referred to a gender therapist. By 17, she began taking testosterone and later underwent a double mastectomy at 18.

Despite the quick medical response, Mosley’s parents were initially hesitant. “They were asked, ‘Do you want a dead daughter or a living son?’” Mosley reveals. Under immense pressure, her parents consented to the transition.

Unforeseen Consequences

The immediate changes to Mosley’s body were drastic. His voice deepened, facial hair grew, and he developed more masculine muscle tone. But soon, doubts began to surface.

“I thought transitioning would make all my problems go away, but they didn’t,” Mosley shares. The optimism she once felt quickly faded as she realized that her mental health struggles were still present, and the transition had not brought the expected relief.

Mosley’s decision to detransition in 2022 has been a painful one. The physical toll of the transition is severe. She suffers from chronic pain, including muscle tension and burning sensations in her neck and shoulders, and has been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome and insulin resistance due to her years on testosterone.

“Transition was like putting on a mask,” Mosley says. “Now I feel locked in this cage with lasting health problems.

A Mother’s Regret and Legal Fight

Despite her past pain, Mosley has embraced motherhood, but not without challenges. After detransitioning and becoming pregnant, she faced health complications related to her previous hormone therapy. During her pregnancy, she was plagued by severe morning sickness and complications due to her body’s altered hormonal balance.

“The worst pain was producing milk trapped in my chest after the mastectomy,” Mosley remembers. “It was agony.” The mastectomy, meant to create a male appearance, had left her chest numb and scarred, preventing her from breastfeeding her child.

Mosley’s legal battle against the medical professionals who pushed her toward transitioning began in July 2023, when she filed a lawsuit against the doctors and clinics that administered her gender-affirming care, according to Dailymail findings.

The case claims civil conspiracy and fraud, accusing the professionals of pushing a one-size-fits-all solution to mental health issues without fully informing her of the risks.

“This is the first case where a court has recognized the legal viability of a detransitioner’s case,” said Mosley’s attorney, Josh Payne. “We are proud to represent Prisha as she seeks justice and works to prevent other teenagers from facing the same fate.”

The Price of Detransitioning

Though Mosley continues to experience numerous physical ailments, including vaginal atrophy and difficulties with her voice, she remains steadfast in her advocacy against gender-affirming care for minors.

“I feel like I was an experiment,” she says, “and gender ideology has robbed me of my health in the future.”
