

President Tinubu, with his Vice Shettima,and State governors meet to address the issue of rising cost of food and insecurity at the presidential villa, Abuja
The president and, his Vice, Shettima have today addressed governors of the 36 states of the Federation on extensive 8 key points regarding the problems and economic pressure faced by citizens of Nigeria. Rising cost of food
The key highlights of the meeting, after extensive deliberations, include an agreement to work together to solve the problems and deal with the common economic challenges and insecurity issues befalling the country.
The key points by President Tinubu, as was contained in the issued statement and released by the vice president Kashim Shettima on his social media handle, are addressed as follows:
“More police personnel will be recruited to strengthen the force,” Shettima revealed in the statement.
“Tinubu informed the Governors that the Federal Government will collaborate with them and the National Assembly to establish a mechanism for State police instead of relying on vigilantes in some states. Rising cost of food
“The President charged the Governors to strengthen their Forest Rangers and arm them to keep all the forests safe from criminals.
“Modalities for State police and addressing security issues will be further discussed at the National Economic Council.”
The vice president also said, in the statement, that the president “directed State and Federal Governments collaborate to increase local food production” in order to tackle the effect of rising cost of food.
“Regarding the rising cost of food, the President directed that State and Federal Governments collaborate to increase local food production. He advised against food importation and price control, urging support for local producers
“Additionally, the President advised Governors to follow Kano State’s example in dealing with the hoarding of food for profiteering, directing law enforcement agencies to monitor warehouses and prevent profiteering.
“The President also charged Governors to focus on livestock development in their States, emphasizing increased production, especially in poultry and fishing. Rising cost of food
“The President pleaded with Governors to ensure all salary arrears, gratuities, and pensions are cleared to put money into the hands of the people, as States are now receiving more monthly FAAC revenue.
