President Tinubu endorses Senator Okpebholo for Edo State's governorship election under the APC flag, says the party in on the path to victory
The Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has endorsed Senator Okpebholo in the run up to Edo State’s governorship election under the APC flag.
The APC-led president said the All Progress Congress (APC) party is on the path to victory in Edo State’s governorship Election.
Tinubu made this statement on Monday, while expressing optimism for the APC governorship aspirants in Abuja.
He, also, demonstrated his support during the presentation of the party’s flag to the Edo gubernatorial candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo and his Vice-governor-to-be , Honourable Dennis Idahosa.
He said “we are determined” and are at all cost “going to work with you” during the Edo State’s governorship election.
Speaking in his own words, the president said, ”If you are happy; we are happy. If you are determined; we are determined. We are going to work with you. We are going to stand with you like the wall of Gibraltar.
“That is all I can assure you. The party is supreme, but victory is superior and very important,” the President said.
He praised the former governor of the state, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, for upholding trust in the party.
”Distinguished Senator and our flagbearer, we are putting you forward in order to hold the party in trust for us and achieve victory for us.
“You and your running mate have been described as giant killers, and you have worked tirelessly with the party leadership,” he said.
Tinubu acknowledged the importance and role of women in politics, stating that they are “good” and contribute to the victory of any candidate they support during an election.
”If the women say we are going to win, then we are good to go because they constitute the largest number of voters and the most dedicated,” Mr Tinubu asserted.
The National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Ganduje, in one of his remarks, said that the party is much hopeful that the victory of Okpebholo and his Vice-governor-to-be , Honourable Dennis Idahosa in the upcoming Edo State’s governorship election will bring the State’s leadership back to their party.
”Our candidate is soft-spoken, focused, and an achiever. He is a product that is highly marketable, and I am confident that with him as our flagbearer, we will bring Edo back to our party,” Dr. Ganduje remarked.
