

Okehi LGA enforces curfew ahead of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s planned homecoming rally
EPICSTORIAN — A curfew has been imposed across Okehi Local Government Area (LGA) in Kogi State ahead of a planned rally by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Okehi LGA Chairman Amoka Monday announced the decision, citing security concerns in the region.
Security Crackdown in Okehi
Monday described the curfew as a necessary step to prevent disturbances. He stated that the move followed directives from the Kogi State Government and the State Police Command.
“The safety and security of Okehi residents come first,” Monday stated. “No actions that threaten peace will be tolerated.”
Residents have been warned against loitering or unauthorized gatherings, with strict measures in place to enforce compliance within Okehi.
Natasha Akpoti Rally To Hold As Planned in Okehi
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s media team confirmed that her visit to Okehi in Kogi Central for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations would go on as scheduled.
“Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sallah visit to Okehi remains unchanged,” her team announced.
Dismissing speculation, they added, “No official statement from our office has announced a cancellation.”
Preparations have been made to ensure a smooth event, with organizers urging Okehi attendees to participate peacefully.
Political Turmoil in Okehi
Akpoti-Uduaghan has been at the center of controversy following her Senate suspension over alleged misconduct. Additionally, she recently accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment.
On March 26, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) notified her of a recall petition initiated by constituents in Okehi.
