(EPICSTORIAN) — Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigeria’s security agencies to strengthen cooperation in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.

Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the fifth annual Strategic Security Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Ogun State, Shettima emphasized the need for a unified approach to tackling crime.

Vice President Shettima Highlights Need to Address Security Challenges

Delivering the president’s message, the vice president reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to equipping the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) with the resources necessary to fulfill its mandate as the country’s primary internal security agency.

“We are dedicated to enhancing the institutional capacity of the Nigeria Police to ensure they are fully prepared to address security challenges,” Shettima stated.

The conference, attended by senior law enforcement officials and security experts, focused on improving intelligence-sharing, operational effectiveness, and strategic policing.

Participants underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration in strengthening national security and restoring public trust in law enforcement.

Shettima reiterated the federal government’s resolve to implement security sector reforms, including modernizing police infrastructure and improving officer welfare.

He emphasized that reinforcing the police force would not only enhance national security but also create a stable environment for economic development.
