Minister Oduwole’s vision for competitive trade and FDI set to transform Nigeria’s industrial landscape

Abuja, Nigeria — Jumoke Oduwole, the newly appointed Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, officially took up her duties this week, expressing her determination to revive Nigeria’s trade and industrial sectors.

Sworn in by President Bola Tinubu on Monday ,November 4, in Abuja , Oduwole highlighted her primary objectives: to increase Nigeria’s industrial competitiveness and foster foreign direct investment (FDI), essential for the nation’s sustainable economic growth.

Jumoke Oduwole Embarks on Transformative Leadership

In her first address to the ministry staff, Oduwole explained her commitment to measurable outcomes and a performance-oriented strategy.

“What gets measured is what gets done,” she said, introducing plans for regular performance evaluations to ensure that all set targets are met.

Her approach reflects a results-driven attitude aimed at addressing the high expectations of both the government and the public.

This emphasis on accountability, according to a report by the Federal Ministry of Information and Orientation, is part of her broader vision for a more dynamic, responsive ministry.

Ambassador Nura Rimi, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, welcomed Oduwole’s arrival, speaking highly of her leadership style and the transformative impact she could bring.

“We are confident that Minister Oduwole’s strategic vision and dynamic approach will bring about significant positive changes in our sector,” Rimi stated.

He referenced her previous work with the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), where her efforts significantly improved Nigeria’s business environment, reducing bureaucratic hurdles.

Rimi noted that Oduwole’s experience and commitment would not only streamline operations within the ministry but also drive Nigeria’s broader economic goals, creating a welcoming environment for both local and international investors.
