Several efforts to commemorate the death of Navalny have failed as Yulia Navalnaya and the family of the deceased accused Russian authorities of “seizing” and dishonouring the dead.
Ms Yulia revealed that hundreds of people were arrested, and some memorial monuments cleared by Putin’s security agencies. Yulia Navalnaya
She also stated that the funeral arrangements were still unclear because there are concerns about whether the authorities would allow it to proceed as the family wishes for Alexei Navalny.
“We don’t know whether the authorities will interfere with it being carried out in the way the family wants and as Alexei deserves,” she said.
“Give us the body of my husband,” she demanded in a video address.
“You tortured him alive, and now you keep torturing him dead. You mock the remains of the dead.”
Further demanding for the release of her husband’s body without conditions, Navalny’s widow alleged that the Russian president Putin was involved in Navalny’s death. Yulia Navalnaya
But in a previous counter statement the Kremlin had denied these accusations and criticised Westerns for their reaction and implications of such a non-existing scenario.
As Putin’s prominent critic, Navalny died in a Russian prison under mysterious circumstances on 16 January, with few details available. But Navalny’s team has offered to pay security officers €20,000 ($22,000; £17,000) in reward for information related to the cause of his death. Yulia Navalnaya
Previously, he was poisoned with a Novichok nerve agent and had been heavily targeted by Russian authorities for his criticism.
Sources said he was the most high-profile critic of the Russian leader for years, and had been jailed in Russia since 2021—after returning from Germany where was being treated for poison. Yulia Navalnaya
