EPICSTORIAN — A woman and her two young children died Monday night after an apparent leap from Niagara Falls.

New York State Police identified the victims as 33-year-old Chaianti Means, her nine-year-old son Roman Rossman, and five-month-old daughter Mecca Means, who fell from Luna Island, a scenic point nestled between the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls.

Investigations reveal Niagara falls incident was intentional

Police have labelled the fall as intentional, though the precise circumstances are still under investigation.

“The circumstances remain under investigation,” a state police representative stated, noting that Means and her family lived locally in Niagara Falls.

The bodies of the victims have yet to be recovered, with authorities relying on aerial drones and underwater search units to navigate the river’s challenging currents.

Luna Island, situated within the famed Niagara Falls State Park, draws millions of visitors each year, captivated by the view of the three waterfalls – American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls.

Chaianti Means worked as a domestic violence counselor, as indicated on her LinkedIn profile, devoting her career to assisting others. Since news of the tragedy broke, friends and family members have expressed their grief on social media.
