Justice O.A. Fadipe of the Ikeja Special Offences Court presided over the case. ICPC prosecution counsel Yvonne Williams-Mbata outlined how Idris failed to account for the missing funds between February 2001 and April 2021. The court heard that he made false returns and abused his position to enrich himself.
The charges were brought under Sections 26(1)(b) and 25(1) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000. The court ruled against Idris, sentencing him to one year in prison for each count. A fine of N1 million was set as an alternative, with both sentences to run concurrently.
Beyond the sentence, the court required Idris to enter a N2 million bond with the High Court registry, ensuring good behavior. Failure to comply would result in an additional 10-year prison term.
