Ediegene, Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Okana, was said to had been reportedly attacked in Central Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Police Confirm Arrests in Abua/Odual CDC Attack
The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the arrests on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. According to Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko, spokesperson of the Command, the suspects were apprehended by officers from the Ayama Police Division and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Port Harcourt.
The suspects, whose names have not been released, are currently undergoing interrogation as detectives continue investigations into the motive and circumstances of the attack.
CDC Chairman Recalls Violent Ambush on Farm Path
Speaking from a recovery bed, Ediegene described how he was ambushed at around 7 a.m. on June 29 while on his way to his farm. “A group of boys ambushed me, macheted me on the head, shoulder, and hand. Afterward, they took me to the police station in Abua Central,” he recounted.
Though still recovering from his injuries, Ediegene expressed confusion and dismay over the incident. “I was unconscious but now I’m able to talk a little. I don’t know why they did it. For now, I am demanding justice,” he said.

Investigation Deepens into Targeted Abua/Odual CDC Attack
