Horizon IT system: Paula Vennells testifies in evidence on scandal that ruined lives of Post Office workers.
Paula Vennells, ex-Post Office CEO, faces legal questions over the scandal that wrecked the lives of post office workers.
The former Post Office boss is testifying in evidence at the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry against the wrongful litigations brought against Alen Bates and other postmasters.
The Horizon IT system wrecked the lives of Post Office workers when it mistakenly made it look like money was missing from their branches, Mirror News said.
It was gathered that Postmasters were accused of the losses and forced pay back all the lost money, “with more than 900 convicted including some who were put in prison”. Several took their own lives”.

Ms Vennells was the Post Office chief from 2012 to 2019; and during this time as boss at Horizon ms Vennells continuously denied that Horizon had got anything going wrong with its employees.
In 2015 She also told the Commons business committee that no record of injustice could found against the Post Office.
She announced earlier this year that she would hand back her CBE amid public anger over the scandal in the wake of the ITV drama Mr Bates vs the Post Office.
Ms Vennells is giving evidence over three days.
She was expected to be questioned on whether she lied to MPs, if she knew postmasters’ accounts could be secretly accessed and why she continued prosecutions despite concerns, Mirror said.
A group of 555 workers led by Mr Bates sued the Post Office.
In 2019 the High Court argued the possibility that Fujitsu, the firm behind the Horizon software, might have gained access to their accounts without their knowledge and change the numbers.
