Highlights on Israel-Hamas war: IDF destroys its drone shot down in southern Lebanon, CIA's proposes release of 900 Palestinians, Hostages families meet in Washington with senators

The Israeli Air Force has destroyed the Israeli UAV that was shot down by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon on Saturday.

This was confirmed in a statement by the IDF on Tuesday.

Today’s Highlights on the Israel-Hamas War, Gaza, the middle East, families of Hostages and the US, CIA’s peace deal proposals:

The US:

According to Rueters report coming from the White House on Tuesday, an in-person meeting of Israeli and US officials on the planned operation in the Gaza city of Rafah will take place in a couple of weeks.

Hostages’ families:

Family  members of hostages, Keith Siegel and Romi Gonen, had  met on Tuesday in Washington with two senators Tommy Tuberville from Alabama and Michael Bennet from Colorado, according to the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.

The family members spoke of their relatives’ ordeal in Gaza captivity and gave the senators the yellow ribbon pin, a symbol representing the call to return the hostages, Jerusalem Post reported.

CIA’s proposal for a hostage deal:

The CIA’s proposal for a hostage deal included the release of 900 Palestinian prisoners, a senior Israeli source told Kan News on Tuesday.

These 900 hostages included 100 Palestinians described as “heavy” prisoners.

The term “heavy” prisoner refers to the high-profile nature of the crime for which said inmate was imprisoned, with Palestinians imprisoned for murdering Israelis in terror attacks considered “heavier” than inmates with no blood on their hands.

However, the report further said that Israel, in return, demanded that it retains the right of veto over some of the prisoners and that it be allowed to exile those it releases outside the precincts of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Iran says Israel’s presence threat to UAE, this should not happen:

Iranian Revolutionary Guards Navy Commander Alireza Tangsiri  remark that Israeli presence has been a threat to the UAE, and should be stopped.

“We know that the Zionists were not brought to the UAE for economic purposes but rather for security and military work. This is a threat to us and should not happen,” Tangsiri said, according to a report by an Iran’s semi-official Student News Agency

The UAE has in 30 years, under a US-brokered accord in 2020, established diplomatic relations with Israel, the first and the most dominant Arab nation.
