Governor Eno’s solar-powered project brings clean water to Ini, ending years of scarcity and supporting agriculture.
Uyo (EPICSTORIAN) – Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Bassey Eno has inaugurated a solar-powered, reticulated water system in the community of Ogu-Itu Mbonuso, Ini Local Government Area in an effort to improve rural infrastructure.
This landmark project, according to governor Eno, is expected to provide clean, potable water to thousands, impacting six villages within the region.
“Today, I commissioned a solar-powered, reticulated water project for the people of Ogu-Itu Mbonuso in Ini LGA,” the governor revealed.
Years of Water Scarcity Finally Addressed by Governor Eno
For years, residents in Ini have grappled with inadequate access to safe drinking water. The new water system not only aims to end this long-standing challenge but also supports the local agricultural economy, a core component of Ini’s livelihood.
Governor Eno highlighted the project’s dual benefits, saying, “This new water system spans six villages, bringing a fresh source of life and ending years of struggle for potable water and irrigation.”
Given Ini’s role as an agricultural hub, access to water is essential for year-round farming, and the solar-powered system promises sustainability, tapping into renewable energy to meet the community’s needs.
“ Ini is a vital agricultural hub, and this project ensures farmers can now access water all year round,” he added.
