Accra (EPICSTORIAN) — The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has urged Ghanaian citizens to vote members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) out of the country’s parliament in the upcoming December 7
elections for lack of accountability.
The call to vote against the New Patriotic Party members comes after a sudden postponement of a planned meeting of the parliament scheduled on Thursday, which a media source said was indefinitely put off by the House Speaker, Alban Bagbin, in favour of the members’ absence from the Chamber.
According to Dr. Ato Forson, their absence stalled the parliamentary sitting, although the session had been originally scheduled by the NPP effective November 7.
Lamenting the intentional gross misconduct, he expressed disappointment at the non-attendance of the New Patriotic Party members of the parliament, and likened such behaviour to obvious disorganisation among the party members hindering ‘legislative functions’.
“They are short of ideas for solving the issues of the country and all that they know is dancing during their campaigns and sharing money, Dr. Ato Forson said, remarking on the party’s poverty of economically productive ideas and good governance.
He noted that the NPP failure to hold a parliamentary proceedings not only undermines the country’s democracy but also undoubtedly results in a waste of national resources.
“l am deeply concerned and disturbed by what has happened and this is an abuse of the Standing Orders of the House. It is tantamount to causing financial loss to the state and we call on Ghanaians to punish them accordingly.
The Minority Leader did not mince words about his call to “vote out incompetent government” given the series of unaddressed issues by the ruling leadership, highlighting the party’s lack of committed efforts to ensure their parliamentary duties.
“Let no one deceive you that the NDC is here to distract government business because there is no business. We are fed up and we are just waiting for the elections so that Ghanaian vote out this incompetent government.
