Wa, Ghana — June 11, 2025 — Adams Hamidu, a Ghanaian robber from the Upper West Region, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for property snatching.
On June 5, 2025, the Wa Circuit Court sentenced the convicted robber to 20 years imprisonment with hard labor.
Teen Robber Convicted for Armed Motorbike Theft
In February 2025, Gyida, alongside an accomplice who remains at large, robbed a victim at gunpoint, seizing a blue Honda motorbike valued at GHC 20,000, a Tecno mobile phone worth GHC 1,300, and cash totaling GHC 10,800.
The robbery incident sent fear among residents, intensifying calls for urgent law enforcement action.
Police Operation Leads to Arrest of Notorious Hamidu
Following a thorough intelligence-led investigation, the Upper West Regional Police Command arrested the suspect on June 1, 2025, in Domowa, Wa-West District.
The police said the prompt apprehension of the thief remains part of its dedication to curbing violent crime and ensuring justice.

The Regional Police Command emphasized that this conviction represents its firm commitment to safeguarding residents and maintaining public order.

The Wa Circuit Court has, with 20 years of imprisonment and hard labor imposed, demonstrated the justice system’s firm stance against Felony theft and violent crimes.
