Flood: Heavy rainfall and landslides kill 47 people in Hanang district of Tanzania.

At least 47 people have been killed in northern Tanzania floods and landslides leaving 80 others wounded, according to a report.

Caused by the bad weather, infrastructure has been destroyed and many homeowners displaced in the area.

The president of Tanzania, Samia Hassan has also sent national security forces to salvage the situation in Hanang.

This happened a few yards away from the ‘slopes of Mount Hanang’.

Tanzania has been hit several times by floods and landslides. It has become a record of every year’s worst experience for many households in the country.

Believed to have been caused by the El Niño weather in East Africa, this side of the world has suffered more tormenting impact of floods in 2023 than in the other past years.

In the capital Dar es Salaam and the areas of Kigoma, Kagera, Geita and Unguja, heavy rainfall had killed many lives and destroyed properties of Tanzania citizens in the past few weeks.

Their sources of livelihood continue to deplete as farming areas had been washed away by constant flooding.

Fear continues to rise, as meteorologists warned Tanzanian citizens of more rainfall this month.
