(EPICSTORIAN) — In a press briefing held Saturday, IDF Spokesperson Brigadier-General Effie Defrin firmly dismissed Iran’s claim that it had shot down an Israeli fighter jet during Israel’s latest strike campaign over Tehran.

Defrin revealed that over 70 aircraft were deployed in a multi-hour mission targeting more than 40 key military locations in the Iranian capital.

The operation, which marks Israel’s deepest aerial incursion into Iranian airspace to date, was conducted as part of the broader Operation Rising Lion.

According to Defrin, Israeli fighter jets now operate with full aerial freedom above Tehran following extensive degradation of Iran’s air defense systems.

Israel expands air superiority in Tehran strike campaign

In the wake of recent escalations between Israel and Iran, Israeli defense officials indicated that the IDF has neutralized significant portions of Iran’s missile infrastructure, enabling deeper fighter jet deployment.

The operation targeted dozens of missile launchers aimed at Israel, launching shortly after the publicized press conference.

Defrin maintained that no Israeli aircraft were downed and emphasized that “the road to Tehran has been paved,” referencing IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir’s earlier remarks about Israel’s growing regional air dominance.

Iran, however, has circulated video footage purportedly showing its air defenses firing into the night skies over Tehran—a claim Israel calls propaganda.

Iranian missile defenses under strain as fighter jet raids intensify

Military experts report that the frequency and reach of Israeli fighter jet operations are set to increase in the coming weeks.

The dismantling of Syrian and Hezbollah air defenses, alongside Iran’s weakened response capability, has significantly reduced risks to Israeli aircraft operating in hostile airspace.

The strategic shift follows two years of constrained Israeli operations over Lebanon and Syria. Now, with shortened flight paths and fewer aerial threats, the Israel Air Force (IAF) hinted that it is poised for sustained engagement beyond Iran’s borders.

This move is likely to recalibrate regional power dynamics and prompt renewed diplomatic efforts.

Ongoing tensions raise questions about regional escalation

This latest development in the Iran–Israel conflict comes amid growing concerns about a wider regional confrontation.

Tehran has reached out to mediators in hopes of brokering a The Jerusalem Post as reported by The Jerusalem Post, while Israeli air operations continue with strategic precision.

International observers are watching closely as Israel reinforces its security posture, perhaps for another strategic strikes on Iranian targets.

Defense analysts say the claim about the fighter jet downing may be Iran’s attempt to project control in the face of significant strategic losses.
