Federal Government curriculum reform unveils future-ready subjects across basic, senior secondary, and technical schools nationwide.
Abuja, Nigeria — The Federal Government has introduced a nationwide curriculum reform for basic, senior secondary, and technical schools in Nigeria.The announcement marks the most comprehensive subject review in decades for the education sector.

The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Olatunji Alausa CON, confirmed the development in Abuja.

Speaking on his behalf, Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, detailed the structure of the reform.

She said the Federal Government curriculum reform was carried out in partnership with leading education agencies.

The review included the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

At the primary level, pupils in Primary 1–3 will now take between nine and ten subjects.

Pupils in Primary 4–6 will study between ten and twelve subjects.

Junior Secondary School students will take twelve to fourteen subjects under the reform.

Senior Secondary School learners will study eight to nine subjects.

Technical colleges will offer nine to eleven subjects within the new framework.
