Congolese government to rely more on 'Patroitic' militia to fight M23 Rebels as country's security forces proved incapable

Eastern DRC, May 15, (Epicstorian News) – President Félix Tshisekedi’s security millefeuille’s counter-terror operations with the Wazalendo militia seems to have proven inadequate since the takeover of Goma by the M23 rebels.

The government’s security joined forces with a militia known as the Wazalendo, and they continue to fight daily to counter the advancing presence of the M23 rebels in Congo.

M23 Rebels, Known as March 23 Movement, was formed with the agenda aim to project itself as the voice of  Congolese people against a dysfunctional and corrupt leadership, presenting their demands to the ruling government.

But as the conflict toughened, M23 was seen beginning to go beyond its original, people-oriented demands for good governance.

While Congolese people, of Rwanda origin precisely,  supported the movement believing that it would be in their interest and was worth it as long as the defined objective was achieved, the M23 rebel group has after seizing the important town of Goma in November 2012 deviantly planned to extend their rebellion across the DR of Congo.

This today has led to a serious socio-political unrest in the country, with many lives lost and families living in a hell of poverty.

As insecuriy continue to bedevil the Estern zone of the Democratic Republic of Congo,  Félix Tshisekedi’s security ,millefeuille, is gravely battling with the March 23 Movement  fighters.

The wazalendo group described as the “Patroitic militias” is helping the security millefeuille which is a legally established force to combat the rebels’ offensives.

The big question ,yet, remains as to whether president Félix Tshisekedi will win the internal war, even with his reliance on foreign advisers on security?

Congolese authorities have several times failed at trying to counter the advance of the M23 rebels, who now have taken possession of the gates of Goma.

Meanwhile , due to the limitations of his army to conquer the seditious advancement of the M23 rebels, President Félix Tshisekedi had to resolve to rely on what a Congolese journalist, Romain Gras had described as a “security millefeuille” where there is a joint-force operation between the Congolese soldiers, regional forces, private security companies, and Wazalendo militia.
