A World War two-age Spitfire crash has killed a British Royal pilot after crashing into a field in England on Saturday.

Paramedics soon arrived at the field off Langrick Road, Coningsby before 1:20 local time, according to officials.

The World War two-age plane belonged to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight based at RAF Coningsby, the RAF said.

The cause of the crash was not Known at time, but RAf said “comprehensive investigation” was  underway.

Police said they believed the crashed Spitfire had just the pilot on it, ‘but it’s unascertained if he had got some company’.

According to RAF, the pilot’s family have were contacted and informed of the incident.

“The pilot’s family have been informed and we ask that their privacy is respected at this difficult time,” RAF said.

Writing on her X handle, Prince William and Princess Kate expressed how “Incredibly sad” they felt “to hear of the news from RAF Coningsby”.

“Incredibly sad to hear of the news this afternoon from RAF Coningsby. Our thoughts this evening are with the pilot’s loved ones, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and the wider RAF family,” Prince William and Princess Kate.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also spare some thoughts for the victim’s family.

“Awful news to see the life of a serving RAF pilot cut short in this tragic event. My thoughts are with their family and loved ones” Sunak said.

Housed in RAF Coningsby, the RAF’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF), as famous fighter aircraft that has been known since history, Spitfire is well respected for its significant role in Britain battle of 1940.
