Georgia O’Connor shone as an amateur, claiming gold at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games and a silver medal at the 2017 World Youth Championships. She followed that with a bronze at the same event in 2018, cementing her reputation as a rising star in British boxing.
England Boxing honored her legacy in a tribute shared on X (formerly Twitter): “We’re deeply saddened by the passing of Georgia O’Connor, a gifted boxer and beloved member of the amateur boxing community.”
The British boxer turned professional in 2021, compiling an unbeaten 3-0 record before her illness. Her final fight took place in October 2022 on the undercard of Savannah Marshall’s high-profile match against Claressa Shields at London’s O2 Arena.
