Abuja, (EPICSTORIAN) – President Bola Tinubu has officially embarked on a two-week UK leave, departing from Abuja to the United Kingdom on Thursday, October 3, 2024.

The announcement of Tinubu’s UK leave was confirmed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday.

This UK leave comes after a busy period marked by various domestic and international engagements, including the president’s official visit to China in September.

Tinubu’s UK leave offers him rest and reflection amid Nigeria’s political unrest, economic challenges.

Tinubu’s leave will be an opportunity for rest and reflection, following significant political developments and citizens’ unrest in the country.

However, among many economic reforms by his administration are ongoing efforts to address security concerns and introduce new tax and regulatory frameworks aimed at boosting business activities in Nigeria.

Notably, prior to his UK leave, the president’s leadership announced new withholding tax regulations, which will provide relief to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

These regulations exempt businesses with annual turnovers below N25 million from paying withholding tax.

While the president may be absent at the Asoroke, government activities are expected to continue without disruption.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is in active duty to oversee the day-to-day operations of the government during Tinubu’s absence, ensuring continuity in governance.

This delegation of authority follows established protocols when the president is out of the country.

His leave, though routine, comes at a time when the nation is grappling with challenges ranging from economic pressures to ongoing security issues in various regions.
