Tinubu’s government dissolves ministries in major restructuring, merging tourism, sports, and regional development efforts

Abuja, EPICSTORIAN -President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council (FEC) have dissolved the Ministry of Niger Delta and the Ministry of Sports Development.

The new Ministry of Regional Development will now supervise all regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, the North West Development Commission, the South West Development Commission, and the North East Development Commission.

Ministry of Niger Delta and the Ministry of Sports Development scrapped to Restructure for Efficiency

This restructuring will also see the National Sports Commission absorbing the functions of the now-defunct Ministry of Sports Development, streamlining sports administration in the country, reported Nigeria’s national media.

Additionally, the FEC has approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.

This move is expected to foster greater collaboration between the two sectors, enhancing Nigeria’s cultural and economic growth.

The decisions were finalised during the FEC’s meeting in Abuja today in line with the government’s strategy to improve efficiency and ensure better coordinated efforts for regional development and sports management.
