Justice Nyako exits Nnamdi Kanu’s trial amid Supreme Court order dispute with IPOB leader.

Justice Nyako steps down after Supreme Court order dispute with Kanu.

Abuja, (EPICSTORIAN) – Justice Binta Nyako has formally withdrawn from the legal trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), following heightened tensions over an alleged disregard for a Supreme Court ruling in the alleged charges of treason.

Kanu, who has been in custody facing charges of treason, openly criticized Justice Nyako at the Tuesday High Court sitting in Abuja, accusing her of ignoring a directive from the nation’s supreme court regarding his case.

The withdrawal came after Kanu’s legal team raised strong objections to Justice Nyako continuing to preside over the trial, arguing that her actions were in contradiction to the Supreme Court’s recent decision.

Kanu , at resumption of the trial, requested his legal counsel, Alloy Ejimakor, to allow the time to raise a question  in respect to the judgment of the Supreme Court where the judge was allegedly found bais in case.

“Sit down! I say you should sit down!” The IPOB leader said with strong voice, gesturing from the dock behind Ejimakor.

“My lord, I have no confidence in this court anymore and I ask you to recuse yourself because you did not abide by the decision of the Supreme Court.

“I can understand it if the DSS refuses to obey a court order, but for this court to refuse to obey an order of the Supreme Court is regrettable.

“I am asking you to recuse yourself from this case,” Kanu stated.

Justice Binta Nyako withdraws from Nnamdi Kanu trial over failure of the High Court to abide by the Supreme Court ruling.

Meanwhile, the presiding juror,  Adegboyega Awomolo, had ordered the court to proceed with Kanu’s trial when Justice Binta Nyako requested to be excused from the case.

“I hereby recuse myself and remit the case-file back to the Chief Judge,” she held.

Initially, before Ejimakor was urged to take a pew by the IPOB leader, he was suading the supreme court to put off Kanu’s trial on grounds that was not given time to ready his defence.

In a recent trial, the Court had once granted Kanu’s release, but he remained in detention, a point of contention that has fueled further outcry from Kanu’s supporters.

However, this  assumed failure of the supreme Court to uphold its original decision is likely to further complicate an already fraught legal process, as the case now awaits a possible reassignment to another judge, potentially delaying proceedings and sparking renewed debates on the judicial handling of the matter.
