At least 14 people have been confirmed dead in a gang violence in Haiti rich suburb of Petion-Ville, where there also has been prominently alleged serial attacks by armed criminals since Monday.

According to AFP, local residents said they did not know the circumstances of the deaths of victims in the gang violence in Haiti.

A source also said the violent gang members attacked a gas station, a bank, and homes within the neighbourhood.

There is a complex situation surrounding the development of these incidents in Haiti, where the sub-regional area has been au fait with gang violence for the past two weeks— involving certain groups of armed men protesting against the Prime Minister Ariel Henry.

The prime minister, Henry, promised to allow the formation of an interim government as a result of pressuring demands by neighbouring Caribbean countries and the United States.

The United Nations Children’s Agency (UNICEF) has offered a serious evaluation of the situation of the gang violence in Haiti, as well as unravel the root cause.

It said Sunday was “almost like a scene out of ‘Mad Max,” as even more people continue to suffer acute “famine and malnutrition” because aid agencies have been unable to access their way into the area.

The State’s 72-hour Curfew was extended on Sunday until Wednesday in the Ouest department and Port-au-Prince lasting up to April 3, 2024.

Also, due to the crisis the United States and European Union member countries continue to evacuate their foreign diplomats from Haiti.
