(EPICSTORIAN) – The Ambassador of Belarus to Iran Dmitry Koltsov met with Iranian Deputy Interior Minister Ali Zeinivand in Tehran on Tuesday, December 31.
During the meeting, Koltsov extended a formal invitation to Zeinivand, who also serves as the head of Iran’s Elections Headquarters, to lead a delegation of international observers for the Country’s upcoming presidential elections.
“The Iranian delegation’s presence will strengthen global confidence in our democratic processes,” Koltsov stated, emphasizing the importance of transparency in the electoral process. The elections in Belarus are set for January 26, 2025, under constitutional guidelines.
Zeinivand welcomed the invitation, expressing Iran’s pride in its democratic standards. “Iran conducts the most democratic and safest elections in the world,” he asserted, highlighting the nation’s commitment to fair electoral practices.
The Belarusian President is elected directly by the people for a five-year term. The invitation aims to bolster nation’s reputation for open and credible elections while fostering closer diplomatic ties with Iran.
This engagement underscores Belarus’s willingness to promote international collaboration in monitoring electoral processes, reflecting its dedication to upholding democratic values.
