The governor of Abia state, Dr. Alex Otti has today at the state government house welcomed the assistant Comptroller General of the Federal Fire Service in a bid to discuss their partnership deal within the areas of collaboration and support services. (1)
Speaking to the press, the governor said, “I was delighted to welcome the Assistant Comptroller General of the Federal Fire Service, Achi Okidi Ijeoma, along with other distinguished officers.”
In his elaboration on the outcome of the deal the governor confirmed that “The crux of our discussions revolved around support services and potential areas of collaboration with the Federal Fire Service. The team commended the efforts of the state government in revitalizing the Abia Fire Service and urged that the momentum be sustained.”
Alex otti, as part of his new government agenda to revive the state’s economy and improve its previously neglected social infrastructure and various administrative functions in the area of State service bodies, also told the federal delegates “I emphasized that our governance approach is holistic and comprehensive. We are not only focused on creating an enabling environment for investment and businesses in Abia but also on ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties, which is the core mandate of the Federal Fire Service. We aim to adopt a proactive stance on this issue, seamlessly integrating it into our governance framework.” (2)
Previously, the government has begun it’s plan to carry out various infrastructural development in Abia state which includes dualization of the State Capital roads and rehabilitations of various roads in Aba, Umuahia and other areas within the state.
Governor Alex, speaking on the need for his government’s partnership with the commission, enlightened that “Abia is a bustling state with a lot of commercial and industrial activities. The government is also implementing various developmental and infrastructural projects across the state. Therefore, we anticipate more demand for fire safety and prevention services in the near future. We welcome any assistance from the Federal Fire Service to help us protect our investments and, more importantly, our people.”
Congratulating the Assistant Comptroller General of the Federal Fire Service, Achi Okidi Ijeoma, and his team the said “We were also thrilled to learn about the Federal Fire Service’s acquisition of land in Uzuakoli for the construction of a training centre. This will be a valuable asset for the state and the region, as it will enhance the capacity and skills of our firefighters. We pledge our support and collaboration for this project and any other initiative that will improve the service delivery of the Federal Fire Service in Abia.”
