Cala Agulla, Spain (Epicstorian News) — A British tourist has died after falling 15 feet onto rocks near a scenic cliffside in Majorca, Spain.

The victim, 41-year-old Ben Clark from Andover, Hampshire, reportedly fell in the early hours of Friday fell in the early hours of Friday near the Cala Agulla beach, a popular tourist destination in the island’s northeast.

Clark, a self-employed carpenter, was accompanied by his partner, who also fell but survived.

Authorities believe she was briefly knocked unconscious before regaining consciousness and alerting hotel staff at the nearby Club Cala Rajada Hotel.

Local police confirmed the incident was reported just before 2 a.m. and that the man had likely died instantly upon impact.

Spain’s Civil Guard mobilized its mountain rescue unit (GREIM) to retrieve the body, which was recovered around 5 a.m. An autopsy is pending, though initial investigations indicate the death was accidental.

Cala Agulla Tragedy Shocks Friends and Family

Friends and family members paid heartfelt tributes to Clark online. One of his daughters posted, “Love you forever dad,” while friends described him as “one of the good ones” and “a true legend.”

A friend, Peter Fordham, wrote: “RIP Ben Clark. Devastating news and a sad loss. You will be massively missed.”

Another tribute came from Glenn Quackenbush: “Farewell to great guy Mr Ben Clark. It was an honour RIP.” Social media was filled with emotional reactions, highlighting the widespread grief caused by the Majorca cliff fall.

Cala Agulla: Popular but Perilous Tourist Spot

The incident occurred near Cala Agulla, a white-sand beach surrounded by dunes, pine trees, and rocky outcrops within the Llevant Peninsula Natural Park. The area is known for its picturesque views and is a frequent sunset-watching spot for visitors, making it both beautiful and risky after dark.

Recent Similar Incident Raises Safety Concerns

This tragedy echoes a similar accident last month when a 39-year-old British woman fell around 60 feet from a lookout in Palma’s El Jonquet area.

Emergency responders were able to reach her quickly after initiating a ‘Green Alert,’ but she succumbed to her injuries. Spanish police ruled that case an accident as well, and no foul play was suspected.

Clark had posted a light-hearted exchange on Facebook just a day before the incident, joking about his sunburn in Majorca. His sudden death underscores the potential dangers at elevated tourist sites, particularly during nighttime hours.
