

Nigerian police inspecting recovered stolen vehicles returned from Ghana and Niger through INTERPOL cooperation.
Abuja, Nigeria (Epicstorian News) The Nigeria Police Force has successfully recovered high-value vehicles stolen from Nigeria and trafficked to Ghana and Niger Republic.
These operations, which were achieved through the coordinated efforts of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, demonstrate the growing efficiency of international policing cooperation in fighting transnational crimes.
In a major breakthrough, operatives from INTERPOL NCB Abuja, in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Accra, located a Toyota Prado (2020) in Accra, Ghana.
The vehicle, stolen during a robbery in Abuja and owned by a Federal Government agency, was recovered. Authorities in Ghana arrested three suspects, who have since been charged to court in Accra.
The vehicle has been returned to Nigeria and handed over to the appropriate agency.
Two Vehicles Tracked to Niger, Returned via Border Coordination
INTERPOL NCB Abuja also recovered a Toyota Hilux (2018) belonging to another Federal Government agency. The vehicle was stolen in October 2024 from a staff member in Utako District, Abuja.
Through collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Niamey, the vehicle was traced to Agadez, Niger Republic.

Officials at the Ilela/Konni border coordinated the return of the vehicle to a senior representative of the agency, showcasing a successful example of cross-border intelligence sharing in recovering vehicles stolen from Nigeria.
IGP Affirms Support for Global Policing Collaboration
Continuing its efforts, the Nigeria Police Force is finalizing the recovery of two more stolen vehicles: a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV and a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUV. These vehicles, stolen in May 2025 in Abuja, were found sold in Niamey, Niger Republic.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the operatives for their efforts and praised the outstanding cooperation received from INTERPOL offices in Accra and Niamey, as well as the Nigerian High Commission in Accra.
“This recovery operation is a testament to what is achievable through enhanced global cooperation,” said IGP Egbetokun. “We are committed to building stronger transnational frameworks that support justice and security.”
Citizens Urged to Use Police e-Platform for Vehicle Registration
The Nigeria Police is encouraging all vehicle owners to register on the Police Electronic Platform.
According to the authorities, doing so will significantly increase the likelihood of successful recovery in the event of theft, especially for vehicles stolen from Nigeria and trafficked across borders..
