Coalition of the Willing Mobilizes for Peace Talks
Prime Minister Schoof stated that France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and other European allies actively participated in the August 17, 2025 meeting.

Zelenskyy Urges Immediate Ceasefire
President Zelenskyy emphasized the urgent need to stop hostilities to enable meaningful negotiations. Schoof highlighted that Ukraine’s presence in future discussions is essential for a durable peace.
Zelenskyy also called on Russia to assume responsibility for ending daily attacks, amid ongoing reports of Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities.
European Leaders Reaffirm Support for Ukraine
Schoof confirmed that European leaders reiterated strong backing for Ukraine and stressed the importance of including Ukraine in peace negotiations. The coalition discussed measures to apply diplomatic and economic pressure on Russia.
Coordination with the United States to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities was also underscored.
Framework for Security Guarantees and Negotiations
The coalition identified a structured framework for negotiations as critical to achieving lasting peace. Schoof noted that robust security guarantees are necessary to protect Ukraine and deter further aggression.
The Netherlands will continue contributing alongside partners to support the Ukrainian armed forces and implement these measures.
