Eyewitnesses reported that some youths expressed anger over perceived neglect by Hon. Fulata toward his constituency, alleging a lack of development projects compared to neighbouring areas.
According to sources at the scene, the protest escalated after government vehicles, including the governor’s convoy, were pelted with stones, resulting in damage to official and police vehicles.
Residents claimed frustration was focused on unmet promises of infrastructure and community development, reflecting broader citizen dissatisfaction with local representatives.
Who Were Targets of Public Anger?
The attack primarily targeted politicians in Jigawa, particularly those identified with perceived inaction in their constituencies.
Local observers noted that youths singled out Hon. Fulata for criticism due to unimplemented community initiatives and the absence of visible projects in Tarabu.
The situation demonstrated how localized grievances can manifest into public protests during high-profile government events.
What Measures Protected Officials?
Security personnel intervened to ensure the safety of politicians, controlling the crowd and dispersing protesters to prevent escalation into more serious violence.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the intervention prevented the mob from harming the governor, Alhaji Maji, or other attendees, although minor damage to vehicles occurred.
What Happened With Ritual Suspect?
In a separate incident, a suspected ritualist identified as Malam was caught attempting to remove the eye of a corpse in a Tarabu cemetery.
A witness informed local residents, who mobilised to apprehend the suspect before he fled to the District Head’s palace in Kirikasamma for refuge.
Security forces intervened to remove Malam from the mob and took him into custody for further investigation.
The confrontation included vandalism of the security vehicle used to convey the suspect, according to eyewitness reports.
Are Such Ritual Crimes Common?
Authorities reported that in Bauchi State, a 17-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly gouging out his sister’s eyes for ritual purposes in Ganjuwa Local Government Area on October 17, 2025.
The boy lured his sister into a bush and attacked her, reportedly as part of an attempt to acquire wealth through ritual.
How Is Government Responding?
The Jigawa State government emphasized the importance of strengthening security measures at public events following the incidents.
Governor Namadi and local officials have engaged community leaders to address youth grievances and ensure accountability of elected representatives.
