The U.S president Donald Trump has called for external oversight of Iran’s nuclear program, citing Uranium enrichment concerns and potential IAEA or United States involvement in future monitoring efforts.

Washington, D.C. (Epicstorian News) — U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that the United States will demand future external oversight of Iran’s nuclear program, hinting at potential roles for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) or even direct American involvement.

Speaking during a policy forum, Trump said:
“In the future, the United States will insist on external control—by the IAEA or even our own teams—over Iran’s nuclear program.”

This statement signals a firm stance by the former president, suggesting increased international scrutiny, should he or a Republican successor return to office.

The remarks align with long-standing U.S. skepticism about Iran’s nuclear intentions, and come amid ongoing regional tensions and debates over the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), from which the U.S. withdrew under Trump’s administration in 2018.

Iran Nuclear Oversight Highlighted in Trump’s Warning

Trump’s emphasis on external oversight underscores a potential policy direction involving not just international cooperation but possible unilateral enforcement by Washington.

The reintroduction of such strategies would likely reignite debate among allies and adversaries alike.

Trump Hints at US Military Response If Iran Enriches Uranium

In a follow-up comment, Trump emphasized that military forceremains an option if intelligence shows Iran continues to enrich uranium in violation of international limits.

“If Iran is found to be continuing enrichment, we will not hesitate to act—militarily if necessary,” Trump warned.

He reiterated concerns that the Iranian regime has maintained the infrastructure and capacity to resume high-grade uranium enrichment, which many international observers fear could lead to weaponization.

His warning was paired with criticism of what he called “weak inspections” and the Biden administration’s diplomatic approach.

IAEA Could Be Key Player in Iran Nuclear Monitoring

Trump’s statement suggests the IAEA could again become central in overseeing Iran’s nuclear facilities, possibly with greater independence or cooperation with U.S. teams.

The International Atomic Energy Agency, a UN nuclear watchdog, has long conducted inspections in Iran. Trump’s remark raises the possibility of IAEA resuming a more assertive role under tighter U.S. influence.

Experts argue that only with robust external inspections can the global community confidently verify Iran’s compliance with nuclear agreements.

Iran Yet to Respond to Renewed Oversight Demands

Iran has not officially responded to Trump’s latest remarks. However, its government has repeatedly said its nuclear program is peaceful and within international law.

Analysts believe Tehran will reject any unilateral U.S. inspection proposal but might entertain IAEA-led arrangements under multilateral frameworks if global powers are aligned.

Regional Impact of Renewed US-Iran Nuclear Tensions

Trump’s warning introduces new volatility in a Middle East already destabilized by ongoing Israel-Gaza and Lebanon border hostilities. The Iran nuclear oversight discussion could dominate upcoming security dialogues at the UN and in Brussels.

Iran’s nuclear file remains one of the most critical unresolved issues in global diplomacy. Trump’s comments might signal how the Republican Party plans to address Tehran’s ambitions in future U.S. foreign policy.
